CR AU (Optional):

Personality:
Positive Trait:
COMPASSIONATE. Jean has an incredibly big heart, an attitude that made her perfectly fit the X-Men, helping both humans and mutants despite any fear or prejudice that she might receive from the former. Jean fully believes in Xavier's ideal of a world in peace, of co-existence and has worked to show the best of mutant-kind through her own actions, through the aid and kindness that she offers, risking her life continually to save whoever she can. After the Phoenix consumed a planet, Jean felt immense grief and guilt for the lives lost after she absorbed Phoenix's memories, holding herself accountable for how she'd felt and acted even though it hadn't truly been her own actions. After the nation of Krakoa is formed and Jean is appointed to the Quiet Council, she's given a position in the Summer section, the three mutants in it all representing a more empathetic and level-headed side of the council. Jean prefers resolving situations with words over actions, strives for diplomacy and has never wavered from her own ideals of compassion, love and kindness despite everything that she's faced in her life.

Negative Trait:
SELF-SACRIFICING. Jean is a hero and all Heroes™ have one thing in common: the capacity for self-sacrifice. For Jean, that has manifested in her sacrificing her own life (or attempting to) on multiple occasions, either by overusing her powers to the point of exhaustion (and passing out) or by completing a feat so dangerous that it should have killed her. For Jean, her capacity for self-sacrifice (coupled with her empathy) doesn't just impact her own life but also another: the Phoenix's. The Phoenix Force, after Jean took it in, cocooned her under the sea after she should have died (the first time), making a psychic copy of her and impersonating her for the near future. With Jean's personality and memories, the Phoenix both protected her but also adopted her instincts, meaning that after becoming corrupted into Dark Phoenix and then being saved, Phoenix also sacrificed itself in the name of love and protecting others (and atoning for her crimes). Jean is noted for carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, going 'to battle' despite the danger and potential for death and has died on multiple occasions. When the Phoenix returned, Jean refused to bond with it again despite knowing that it would mean she would die (again), preferring to stick to her beliefs over what that life could be. Whilst being a Big Dumb Hero™ sounds positive, she's doing it out of the goodness of her heart, it's negative in that she will risk her own life, sacrifice her mental health in some ways and does it without considering others: they'll suffer if she dies and she won't be able to help anyone else.

Negative Trait:
FIERY. It's a red-headed stereotype but Jean is known and noted for having quite a temper on her. At its worst, people have been cautious not to anger her (or disrupt her emotions) in case it brought out the Phoenix (when that was a concern), at its normal Jean typically overreacts to a situation, not helped by the powers that she has. When Jean believed that Scott had cheated on her, the anger that she unleashed was at Emma rather than Scott (for instigating it), using her telepathy much more forcefully than she normally would to push into Emma's mind both to unleash her own emotions (pain, anger, betrayal) but also to try and punish her. Whilst Jean would like to typically say she's a calm person, known for preferring a diplomatic approach to difficult situations and resolving things with words over powers, when people are threatened (especially those she cares for) or she's angered she is very quick to respond, will show off her power and does (literally) get fiery. It's her temper that caused her to be able to manifest a psychic phoenix even without the Phoenix Force inhabiting her.

Negative Trait:
EMOTIONAL. By nature of being a telepath, Jean not only feels her own emotions but that of other people, capable of feeling them much more deeply. Whilst Jean prefers to show herself to be more positive, to show the caring aspects of herself she's before felt drawn to darker impulses and feelings, enjoying them for what they were and hiding this aspect of herself. When Jean was the host of the Phoenix Force, her friends were worried about what it would do to her if she drew too much power or became too emotional but rather than being corrupted by it Jean was the one who corrupted it. The Phoenix is a cosmic, destructive force with an unending hunger, but where it initially had destroyed a sun (and thus killed millions on a planet) through its hunger, Jean's influence and strength in her personality caused it to seek something else: love. Jean's compassion for her friends and her guilt over "her" actions caused the Phoenix to sacrifice itself to save and protect others. When the Phoenix returned and revived Jean it stated that it needed her, needing to feel wanted and loved just as Jean was, twisted by the depth of what she felt for her friends and her love for Scott.

Powers and Abilities:
MUTANT. As a mutant with the X-Gene, Jean is stated to be an Omega Level Mutant, powerful and skilled and is described to have limitless potential of her abilities. With training, Jean has grown her abilities over the years to be able to use them in everyday situations or to aid her in combat, having an incredibly refined touch and control.
EMPATHY. Jean's empathic abilities allow her to (at will) sense, manipulate and alter the feelings and emotions of others, though whilst Jean will read how people feel doesn't tend to manipulate what they feel, feeling guilty if she ever does.
TELEPATHY. Jean is able to both read others' thoughts and project her own thoughts and can establish a psychic link either temporarily with one (or multiple) people for psychic conversations, or share a psychic bond with someone that she deeply trusts. Jean is also able to manipulate and control the thoughts and memories of others, though would only do so in more extreme situations. She has also learned to be able to cloak herself and others from telepathic sensing and can shield her mind from being read. She has also shown capabilities in being able to create strong psychic illusions, can amplify another mutant's powers (temporarily) or negate another's powers with psychic inhibitors, and can detect other mutant presences nearby her. Offensively, Jean can use her telepathy to project a psychic blast which can disorient or cause pain, or render someone unconscious.
TELEKINESIS. Jean is able to levitate both herself, objects and other people, capable of simulating flight. Jean's telekinesis is intuitive, allowing her to manipulate something internally (such as a lock) by visualising the parts, and is something she has honed into having incredibly fine control over, able to telekinetically affect something even when she's not physically present (using her telepathy as a visual guide). Offensively, she is able to create concussive blasts or creative protective shielding.
PSYCHIC SIPHONING. Jean is able to absorb psychic energy from other psionic beings, though hasn't often done this. Typically, she is able to manipulate psionic energy to shield herself from harm, resist psychic attacks (absorbing that energy) or generate psionic bolts. Her psionic energy is also what allows her to create her psychic firebird (a phoenix) whose claws inflict both physical and mental damage.
SELF-RESURRECTION. Jean has also shown to be able to self-resurrect using psionic energy, reforming her body after death.
COSMIC HOST. As a host to the Phoenix Force, her empathy, telepathy and telekinesis are magnified. The Phoenix Force also allows her to travel unaided through space. When the was younger, the Phoenix Force amplified her telekinesis past her initial strength level, though Jean has since later stated that she felt held back by the Phoenix in her abilities. Jean is known to be the One True Host to the Phoenix, and whilst others have been its host she has had greater control over it, been less affected by it and has impacted it.
COMBAT SKILLS. Training for many years as an X-Man, Jean is trained in hand-to-hand combat (both aided by her powers and without) and armed combat, though she will typically use her psionic abilities during combat.
PILOT. Due to possessing the memories of both the Phoenix and Madelyne Pryor, Jean is a skilled pilot.
FIRST AID. Jean is shown to be knowledgeable enough in first aid to know where to telekinetically aid someone when they are injured or bleeding until another mutant can heal them. Jean has before used Hank McCoy's knowledge to medically aid someone, though the full extent of his knowledge doesn't stay with her. Jean is likely trained in at least basic first aid (aided by knowledge of mutant physiology) for her missions as an X-Man.
PSYCHOLOGY. After losing her telepathy for a time after her first "death", Jean enrolled in a psychology night class to better understand people's minds since she could no longer read them. It's likely that she completed the course and has at least some basic knowledge in psychology even if not any formal qualifications.

NOTES/NERFS. Jean is absolutely hella ridiculous in terms of her power so nerfs: she won't be able to lift or cause any kind of damage/destruction outside of the stated game rules (and if a player or game plot happened where she caused any big destruction was a thing I'd contact to plot/check allowances first). Extended use of Jean's power also does tire/drain her but she might find this happens a little quicker than usual. She won't be able to self-resurrect, by default I will obtain ooc permission before any kind of manipulation/mind control aspects of her powers (it'll be an opt-in situation) and she also won't have access to the Phoenix Force here. Jean's learned to live as an ordinary girl in a not-so-ordinary world, whilst she likes her telepathic chats, levitating and using telekinesis for personal things in private, outside of combat or private things with friends she doesn't do big or cruel things with her powers. Whilst duplicity events will play on some of that control (or corruption) anything outside of her default will be plotted and chatted first with players, communication and comfort is important.
